Client: W. Carter & Son

W. Carter & Son is the oldest family business in Salisbury, still trading at the same location from when the business began back in 1817. They supply watches, clocks and jewellery as well as offering a repair service, engraving service, valuations and the opportunity to sell unwanted items. For at least the last 50 years W. Carter & Son have looked after The City of Salisbury’s silverware.

The brief...

We were asked to create fresh new designs for W. Carter & Son’s advertising campaigns. Each advert needed to be part of a series and for use in various publications. Whilst producing a contemporary look and feel it was important to retain the client’s rich history and tradition.

Our approach

We wanted to focus on the kind of items available at W.Carter & Son and ensure these stood out whilst portraying the client’s expertise. We employed a photographer with long experience within this specific industry and worked with his images to highlight the particular jewellery pieces in the design. By keeping consistency in the design and layout we were able to create adverts that could be adapted for specific seasons and continue to strengthen W.Carter and Son’s brand within the marketplace.

The client said...

For some time we had been thinking about having our advertising professionally designed, someone mentioned to us that Addison Design would be the people to talk to.

We gave them a call and Graham Addison came to our shop to discuss what it was that we wanted to achieve. From the moment Graham set foot in the shop he knew what we were about and what image that we were trying to portray, keeping in mind our 200 year heritage.

Addison Design have designed our adverts, built and designed our website and have also helped with our stationary needs.

The staff are helpful, friendly and above all else professional! A company who we have great pleasure in dealing with.
