Client: Music Mark

The UK Association for Music EducationMusic Mark is the new charitable, independent organisation (built on the foundations of the Federation of Music Services and the National Association of Music Educators) which represents and supports 99% of all Music Services and over 12,000 instrumental and classroom music teachers, music tutors, assistants plus consultants, advisers, inspectors and lecturers in Initial Teacher Education.

The brief...

Initially we were commissioned to come up with a variety of logo concepts, colours, fonts etc which we would hone down to just three to be taken to board level. The brief was to create an exciting vibrant look which would reflect the proactive nature of this brand new organisation – Music Mark. It had to appeal to the Members, excite new and existing sponsors and engage with schools and school children. It was important that the strap-line was an integral part of the logo without detracting from the impact of the Music Mark corporate image.

Our approach

We achieved the brief by producing a circular logo using exciting complimentary colours with a loose ‘rubber stamp’ feel to the background . We chose the font ‘Comfortaa’ partly because it was modern and upbeat, but also available in a variety of weights and ‘open source’ for free use by anybody on both PC and Mac. The strap line runs at an angle around the circumference so it achieves the brief requirement of being an integral part of the logo whist still being separate and a little quirky. We like quirky 🙂

Having successfully hit the brief on the logo, Music Mark commissioned addison design to design a concise ‘Logo Style Guide’ to distribute to the many third parties they work in conjunction with. Once the initial launch was complete went on to design a full corporate identity and produce the many items required including:

Stationery, Marketing/Promotional leaflets, Promotional postcards, Exhibition Graphics, Adverts for print and email promotions, corporate pens, stickers and staff badges etc. etc.

In keeping with our interest in Environmentally Friendly Print Solutions and with the wholehearted support of Music Mark, we proposed printing and producing as much of these items in as an eco-friendly way as possible. The stationery, leaflet, postcards and stickers were printed on 100% recycled paper using vegetable based inks, all the the exhibition graphics were printed on biodegradable material and the pen barrels were produced from recycled pens.

UPDATE

We continue a close and proactive relationship with Music Mark and have since produced a 200 page book ‘Reaching Out’, a quarterly Interactive magazine and full promotional material for their National conference in Manchester. Oh, and we LOVE working with them!!!

The client said...

“We are absolutely delighted about our relationship with Addison Design who have worked with us from day one on brand concept, brand design and brand management. Graham really listened to what we were trying to achieve with our new organisation and took  time to understand all of our requirements. As Chief Executive I had to be confident that the designs I presented to the Board would be met with approval and would be felt to give a strong visual message about the vision, value and intentions of the new organisation. Addison Design’s tireless attention to detail (as represented in the excellent bespoke ‘Style Guide’ created for us) means that within 3 months we had national brand recognition for our organisation. They produced a beautiful, strong and very appropriate logo for ‘Music Mark’ and a range of materials to launch the organisation including banners, stationery, badges, pens, signs, postcards, leaflets and website branding. They continue to support us as we grow and develop and have now launched our publications branding including our on-line magazine and our printed book and all materials for our first symposium and first national conference. Launching a new organisation is hard work and potentially very stressful so it is vital to find an organisation who you really feel are working with you, who can meet your deadlines  and represent value for money. Addison Designs met all of these criteria and  I couldn’t recommend them more highly.”
